Kurt Vonnegut is considered as a satirical writer. His novels are also classified as science fiction. His two novels, Slaughterhouse-Five and Cat's Cradle are realized as his most notable works. They became well-known in the United States of America within a short time of their publication. The researcher relied on the use of the common linguistic method to clarify the quality of the formulation of the conceptual metaphor, which the writer relied on to show his orientations, emotions and thoughts towards the war. The formulation of the conceptual metaphor also depends on the use of the linguistic method, which includes several types, the use of each of which varies according to the intended purpose. For instance, this method includes the use of words related to the senses, as well as compound sentences, as well as the use of prepositions, conjunctions, and adverbs. The conceptual metaphor aims to arouse the thinking and emotion of the future, in order to communicate the desired goal in the easiest and fastest way possible. The researcher concluded that the writer used the easy and abstaining method, relying on the conceptual metaphor, to convey his point of view about war, abuse of power and religion in a fun and sarcastic way, which gave his works a revolutionary and great characteristic at that time.
