يتناول هذا البحث عن دلالة العين على التماثيل في مرحلة العصور الحجرية بالعراق القديم، متضمنا التماثيل البشرية والتماثيل ذات الهيئة الحيوانية التي وردت في هذه الفترة، حيث تعتبر العيون من أبرز ملامح التماثيل، وتم إنشاؤها عن طريق لصق کتل طينية على الوجه وشقها طوليا بشق عميق وهذا الشکل يشبه حبة البن فسميت في الأدب الأثري باسم عيون حبة البن في بعض التماثيل، وهناک بعض التماثيل ذات عيون تشبه الافعى أي عيون ذات فتحة ضيقة طويلةحيث أدرک الانسان في العراق القديم قيمة وأهمية العين کعضو للأبصار وکان حريصا على تمثيلها على التماثيل بأوضاع وأشکال مختلفة.

This research deals with the significance and representation of the eye on the statues in the Stone Age stage in ancient Iraq, including human statues and statues of animal form that came in this period, where the eyes are considered one of the most prominent features of the statues, and they were created by sticking clay blocks on the face and slitting them longitudinally with a deep slit and this The shape resembles a coffee bean, so it was called in archaeological literature as the eyes of a coffee bean in some statues, and there are some statues with snake-like eyes, meaning eyes with a long narrow opening, Man in ancient Iraq realized the value and importance of the eye as an organ of sight and was keen to represent it on statues in different situations and shapes.
