أثر ت.س.إليوت في مفهوم الشعر عند النقاد العرب المعاصرين

يمتنع إليوت عن البحث في رؤى الشاعر، بل يشير إلى وجود نوع من العلاقة ليست بالضرورة شعرية، ربما مجرد سيکولوجية، بين التصوف وبعض أنواع الشعر أو بعض أنواع الحالات التي ينتج فيها الشعر ويقول:" أفضّل ألا أعرَف الشعر أو أختبره من خلال البحث في أصوله" کذلک لا يبحث إليوت في تأثيرات الشعر سواء أکانت رؤيوية أم غير رؤيوية؛ لأنه يتمسک بمنظور تاريخي نسبي يرى أن وظائف الشعر تتبدل من عصر لآخر ومن شخص لآخر، ويقول:" ي discussing the poet’s visions, but rather points out that there is a kind of relationship, not necessarily poetic, perhaps just psychological, between mysticism and some kinds of poetry or some kinds of situations in which poetry is produced and says: “I prefer not to know poetry or to test it by researching its origins.
