المستخلص

Human beings respond not only to their physical environment but also to the presence of evil and good. Once human beings have become involved in a seductive evil, they might try to rebel against it. Likewise, the pressure of a cruel authority engenders social disturbance; it can erupt into scenes of havoc, violence, and bloodshed. Nevertheless, the real sinners are not the rebels. The rebels are not wrong as those who have driven them to react in a self-defeating way. The insurgents may cause initial fear and discomfort, but they create a vision that people can get behind. In this case, the purpose of rebellion is the resistance to find parallel worlds that lead to solutions. The research paper represents a practical application of the new historicist approach to Italo Calvino’s The Baron in the Trees and Jonathan Lethem’s Chronic City. It is divided into three parts: an introduction, a new historicist analysis, and a conclusion.
