The present research deals with social criticism in James Baldwin's Go Tell It on the Mountain from a literary perspective. Go Tell it on the Mountain is James Baldwin’s first novel that was published in 1953. In Go Tell it on the Mountain there is a close resemblance between the novel’s characters and those in Baldwin’s real life. Therefore, it is considered an autobiographical novel. Go Tell it on the Mountain represents how Baldwin felt about his past, trying to avoid and escape it like the character of Gabriel in the novel. It also represents how Baldwin struggles with the pains of the past that he wants to forget. In order to offer a reliable social criticism Baldwin has employed such themes as God and Religion, Identity or Search for Self, Race, Duty and Responsibility, in addition to the style of narration.
يتناول البحث الحالي النقد الاجتماعي في کتاب جيمس بالدوين "إذهب واحکها فوق الجبل" من منظور أدبي.وهي أول رواية لجيمس بالدوين نشرت في عام 1953. وهناک تشابه وثيق بين شخصيات الرواية وتلک الموجودة في حياة بالدوين الحقيقية. لذلک، تعتبر الرواية سيرة ذاتية. ويمثل کيف شعر بالدوين تجاه ماضيه، محاولا تجنبه والهروب منه مثل شخصية جابرييل في الرواية. کما أنه يمثل کيف يکافح بالدوين مع آلام الماضي التي يريد نسيانها. من أجل تقديم نقد اجتماعي موثوق به. وقد استخدم بالدوين موضوعات مثل الله والدين، والهوية أو البحث عن الذات، والعرق، والواجب والمسؤولية، بالإضافة إلى أسلوب السرد.
