يُعد الفيلسوف طه عبد الرحمن واحدا من المفکرين والفلاسفة البارزين الذي عالجوا مسألة الحداثة على مستوى الفکر والممارسة، فهما وتقييما حيث يبرز موقفه من خلال نقد الحداثة في شقها الغربي وکذا على مستوى الفهم والممارسة داخل الفضاء الإسلامي من منطلق رفضه للتقليد. وبالمقابل يتحدث عن إمکانية قيام حداثة إسلامية وفق مقاربة سياقية تستفيد من المعطى الغربي لکنها تزدهر وتتطور بالإبداع، شريطة الأخذ بالجانب القيمي والأخلاقي على اعتبار الحداثة منجزات مادية وجوانب روحية على حد سواء، في حين يبقى الاستغراق المطلق في الحداثة الغربية دون نقد شکلا من أشکال التقليد والتبعية. The philosopher Taha Abdel Rahman is one of the prominent thinkers and philosophers who addressed the issue of modernity at the level of thought and practice, understanding and evaluating where his position emerges through the criticism of modernity in its western aspect, as well as at the level of understanding and practice within the Islamic space in terms of its rejection of imitation. On the other hand, he talks about the possibility of establishing Islamic modernity according to a contextual approach that takes advantage of Western knowledge, but thrives and develops with creativity, provided that the value and moral aspect is taken into consideration as modernity is both material achievements and spiritual aspects, while absolute absorption in Western modernity remains without criticism a form of imitation and dependency
