هدفت الدراسة التعرف على طبيعة مجتمع مدينة دمياط الجديدة ومشكلاتها وعلاقتها بالتنمية المستدامة, بتوجه نظرية التنمية المستدامة, باستخدام المنهج الوصفي, وبتطبيق استمارة الاستبيان, على عينه من السكان والعاملين بمدينة دمياط الجديدة, وتوصلت الدراسة إلى عدة نتائج أهمها توفير المدينة العديد من فرص العمل, وأن المدينة جاذبة للسكان بسبب جودة المرافق العامة بها وارتفاع مستوي الخدمات الصحية والتعليمية, وتوافر الأمن والأمان والهدوء داخل المدينة, وساهمت مدينة الأثاث بمدينة دمياط الجديدة في تعزيز الريادة المصرية العالمية و تحقيق التنمية المستدامة في مصر من خلال تصدير المنتجات والمصنوعات الخشبية, حيث أن أثاث دمياط له مكانه كبيرة في السوق العالمية.

ABSTRACT:
The study aimed to identify the nature of the New Damietta city community, its problems and its relationship to sustainable development, with the direction of sustainable development theory, using the descriptive approach, using the questionnaire form, on a sample of residents and workers in the new city of Damietta, And that the city is attractive to the population because of the quality of its public facilities, the high level of health and educational services, and the availability of security, safety, and tranquility within the city, Furniture City in New Damietta City contributed to strengthening the Egyptian global leadership and achieving sustainable development in Egypt through exporting wood products and crafts, as Damietta furniture has a great place in the global market.
