يُعد التشبيه من أهم الوسائل التي تُساعد الشعراء والكُتاب على توسيع نطاق تعبيرهم وفتح آفاق أمامهم للتعبير عن الأفكار والمعاني التي تدور في عقولهم ووجدانهم ولا تستطيع مفردات اللغة التي في قواميسها أن تعبر عنها. عندئذِ يلجأ الأديب إلى استخدام التشبيهات ليعبر عما يريد. إن التشبيه هو أبسط أدوات المجاز، إذ تكون المقارنة فيه بين عنصرين أو مكونين في وجود أدوات التشبيه، فيوضح من خلاله الكاتب شيئا غير معروف بمقارنته بشيء معروف، وهذا يمثل الركيزة الأساسية في إنشاء صورة فنية.

Abstract: The simile is one of the most important means that help poets and writers expand their scope of expression and open horizons for them to express the ideas and meanings that revolve in their minds and feelings that the vocabulary of the language in its dictionaries cannot express. Then the writer resorts to using similes to express what he wants. The simile is the simplest tool of metaphor, as the comparison is between two elements or two components in the presence of simile tools, through which the writer explains something unknown by comparing it to something known, and this represents the main pillar in creating an artistic image.
This article discusses the linguistic analysis of artistic similes in artistic texts of the works of the lyric poet Catullus, and the linguistic analysis studies the context of metaphorical speech, that is, the simile by the poet.
