المستخلص

This research aims to present the term of cosmopolitanism and cultural cosmopolitanism in specific. The notion of cosmopolitanism focuses on the essence of all individuals regardless of their origin, culture, color, facial features, accent, and sex. Cosmopolitanism is a cultural way of considering and respecting variation centered on an ethical attribution. On the other hand, cultural cosmopolitanism is about a culturally mixed-up lifestyle. It is the capability of individuals to have identities formed from different cultures.
The research explores cultural cosmopolitanism in two of Lahiri’s fiction, her novel The Lowland (2013), and trilogy “Hema and Kaushik” (2008). Lahiri, who was always treated as a foreigner all her life, attempted to present her suffering as a daughter of Indian immigrants in the USA. She also created her cosmopolitan identity that affected her life and writing. For instance, she portrayed Indian immigrants in her literary works and succeeded in blending different worlds in her fiction. Furthermore, she showed the difference between the first generation of immigrants and the second generation.
