النظر برزت سمة من أعظم سمات الحضارة الإسلامية وهى الدعوة إلى التفكر والتدبر والتأمل والذي من خلالها وجد الإبداع والنقد الفكري الذي كان من صوره التفكير النقدي باعتباره أحد الوسائل المهمة التي يمكن من خلالها الوصول الى الهداية والتحقق من الصواب، وتحصل النفس على الطمأنينة والسكينة، ويجد العقل ضالته ومبتغاه الذي ينشده، ومن خلاله توزن المذاهب والآراء بميزان دقيق، فيقبل منها ما دل عليه المنقول وتلقته الألباب الصريحة بالقبول، ويطرح منها ما ترده الصريحة من العقول وليس إلى قبوله من سبيل، كما أن التفكير النقدي يعد دليلا واضحا على أصالة الفلسفة الإسلامية وقدرة العقل الإسلامي على الإبداع وإثراء الفكر البشري في شتى العلوم والمعارف.
