يعد الزمن أحد العناصر الأساسية في بناء النص الأدبي والتي تربط بين أجزاء النص فوجود الشخصيات يستوجب وجود زمان ومكان تتحرك خلاله فالزمن بشكل عام هو حيز كل فعل ومجال لكل تغيير وحركة وهو بالنسبة للإبداع المسرحي "أداة تساعد السارد على فهم شخصياته ودوافعها كما يمكن من خلاله التعبير عن الشخصيات وواقعها، بل يمكنه أيضا عن طريق الزمان أن يلاعب متلقيه لعبة الإظهار والإخفاء ليحافظ على توتره في أثناء سيره في خط الأحداث فيظل مشدودًا ومتسائلًا حتى يصل إلى النهاية"
Time is one of the basic elements in the construction of the literary text that links the parts of the text. The existence of characters requires the existence of a time and place in which they move.
